Benefits

The Benefits of Meditation
These fall into two groups; direct benefits and those that might be seen as side effects.  Into the latter group fall such things as reducing blood pressure, feelings of calm and easing of stress. However valuable these may be they are unlikely to be enough to keep the meditator going in the longer term.  The direct benefits of meditation include, greater insight into the nature and scope of self, a deeper understanding and sympathy for oneself and others and perhaps even a glimpse of our connectedness to all things. These are the real incentives for the meditator that promote perseverance on the personal path of consciousness exploration.
The direct experience within meditation carries over into the activity of wider everyday concerns. It strengthens the ability to detach from everyday thoughts and feelings allowing a wider perspective and potentially greater insight.  Meditation is not separate from daily life, it works holistically, enhancing all life experience.
